Oldrati Group boasts a R&D Material Centre, with the task of ensuring constant updates and technological-scientific developments, so the novelties acquired in various sectors can be translated into operational terms.
Three internal laboratories, two in Italy (one exclusively dedicated to silicon materials) and one in Turkey develop innovative solutions able to face the increasing market needs in terms of product performances and client’s specifications. Through close collaborations with key suppliers of raw materials, universities and laboratories specialised in the sector, Oldrati R&D division is able to test and create mixes using innovative materials (e.g.: mineral nano-fillers and shape-memory materials).

The laboratories test over 80 new raw materials and develop over 120 compounds a year. These materials, in black or colour version, are produced with different polymers from the natural range (NR), synthetic rubbers (IR, SBR, EPR, EPDM, CR, IIR, BIIR, CIIR, NBR) including high-tech polymers (HNBR, ACM, AEM, FKM, FFKM) and silicon polymers (VMQ, PVMQ, FVMQ).

Oldrati Labs are equipped with a large range of instruments for materials characterization, in fact, they are able to assess:

    • rheometric curve
    • hardness (ShA and IRHD)
    • tensile strength in climatic chamber (from -60°C to +250°C) *tear resistance in climatic chamber (from -60°C to +250°C) *
    • resistance to abrasion
    • elastic strength
    • rigidity under compression in climatic chamber (from -70°C to +250°C)
    • permanent deformation under compression (from -60°C to +250°C) in air
    • permanent deformation under compression (from -60°C to +250°C) in fluids
    • glass transition temperature (DSC, TR10, BENDING TEST, BRITTNLESS)
    • thermal aging in air (up to +250°C)
    • chemical aging in fluids (oils, petrol, detergents, plasticizers)
