Important award for the development of technologies for the recovery of rubber components from end-of-life.
Oldrati Guarnizioni Industriali SpA, company of Oldrati Group, one of the most important in the production of rubber, plastic and silicone articles, announces an investment of more than 6 million euros. This project will be carried out thanks to the support of the “Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy” (MIMIT), in particular with the resources managed by the “Fondo Nazionale Complementare” (PNC) which integrated and completed the “Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza” (PNRR), which is part of the Next Generation EU (NGEU) elaborated by the European Union in 2021.
Among the goals of Oldrati’s research project – the development of an innovative competence aimed at the regeneration of technical rubber articles at the end of their life cycle. Once regenerated, it will be possible to reintroduce the new raw material into the production chain, thus reducing landfill waste, consumption of virgin raw materials and CO2 emissions. A distinctly innovative and sustainable process in the polymer world.
The selection and validation process of the application was particularly detailed and rigorous. In fact, the company submitted a project to the “Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy” detailing the objectives, the required resources and the expected results at the end of the 3-year research project.
“Obtaining support for a particularly advanced and innovative research such as this represents a recognition of our capability to conduct highly innovative projects. Particularly in an area that is key to improve the sustainability of the rubber and plastics industry.
Together with the entire R&D Oldrati team, we are particularly excited to be carrying out such a significant project. Working on initiatives that actively contribute to a better environment makes us feel very motivated and stimulates an increasing focus on sustainable innovation”, said Paolo Morandi, R&D Group Director.
